Frequently Asked Questions

I want to hire you to photograph my wedding or take a portrait, so now what?

Good choice! Let's iron out the dates and details. Give us a call (920.412.7721) or send an e-mail ([email protected]). We always respond within 24 hours. Always.

What is your style?

We tend not to get too rigid or structured with instructions while organizing or posing shots. Nor do we focus too much on the supposed "rules" of photography. Instead, we strive to have natural, relaxed photo sessions that give clients a mix of traditional as well as dynamic and creative shots. While covering events, we remain as unobtrusive as possible and again try to get a mix of traditional photos, as well as candid and creative images.  We love offering variety and strive to give our customers unique photos that they'll cherish. We really do appreciate your business, and care about providing you with awesome photos. To do this, we mostly just like to have fun, and have that reflect in our product. We take our work seriously. Very seriously - but not ourselves.

Digital or film?

Digital.

Do you bring back-up equipment in case of a malfunction?

Yep. Extra camera bodies and lenses galore are brought along, just in case.

Do we get a copyright to my photos?

Yes! Yes! Yes! Through the magic of the digital universe, we deliver two edited high resolution DVDs with every portrait session and three with every wedding, as well as letters granting you rights to the photos. We look at our pictures as a partnership with our clients, with both sides being able to use the photos afterwards the way they choose. By giving you the files, this provides not only a back-up for you of all these treasured moments, but also a means for you to print them at a lab of your choosing whenever you'd like. The images on these DVDs will come pre-edited, color-corrected and ready to go. No barriers. No extra fees. Just take them, share them and enjoy them.

How soon will our photos be done?

Quickly. We are very active in working on our clients' photos. Of course life happens sometimes and there are exceptions, but we have a pretty quick turnaround. We feel if we let the work pile up, so to speak, we'd run the risk of eventually having to plow through things "just to get them done." No one wants a rushed product. Not you. Not us. That's why we start editing pretty much at our soonest available opportunity, and often times the same day as a shoot. We say that photos will be finished within one month of a shoot. Many times, though, they are done in two weeks or less. Sometimes you'll get them in a matter of days.

Can photos be purchased online?

Yes! Even though we give you the photo files on DVD, we also post them in a private online gallery for you and your family and friends to view. These photos can be purchased as well, in case there is interest from relatives and you are unable to fulfill the orders yourself with your DVD. We must stress, though, that this is just a service we provide out of convenience for our clients. We in no way profit off the prints, and no money made from these orders goes to us. They are sold solely through our photo host and their associates.

Wedding albums?

We don't provide bound wedding albums in our packages, but we do offer custom designed flush mount or matted albums upon request. Email us for specific details and quotes.

Color or Black and White?

Most of our images are deliver to you in color. We will, upon our sole discretion, also provide a series of creatively enhanced images in black and white or other color-altered formats on photos we feel are more striking with these alterations.

How do you edit our photos?

We do the bulk of our work on Adobe Lightroom, with some select photos brought into Photoshop for further enhancements or blemish removal. All photos are individually screened by us, repeats or redundant photos are removed, as are unflattering or "blinking" shots. We then manually process the best photos (no filtering things in bulk), color correct  each picture and add any further corrections or special touches to ensure the best quality images reach you for printing.  We do many black and white, sepia, vintage effects, softening, vignetting, airbrushing, silhouetting and more to offer variety throughout.

How long will wedding formals take?

That really depends on what kind of formals and how many you want. It usually takes around 45 minutes. That's about the maximum recommended time. We can certainly do them in less, or go longer if that is your preference. You're paying us, after all. However, we do recommend doing some shots before the ceremony to speed up the process, and also offer a reminder that while formals are important, taking too much time for them may cut into other opportunities throughout the day.

How many weddings do you shoot a day?

Only one. Whew. They require tons of time and attention, and they are a lot of work. To be fair to ourselves and clients, we do not double-book.

Do you have a studio?

Nope. Not yet. Right now we shoot almost completely on location, although we are in the process of setting up some indoor options as well.

Camera gear?

We use Canon gear, and are always upgrading when possible to the latest equipment, lights and lenses.

RAW or JPEG?

RAW. We shoot everything RAW. This gives us more flexibility in editing - you know, so we can knock your socks off!
